François Dal – Handmade 2020 – (on stem) δ |
Here is a model made to order and started in its time with the help of its future owner. A complicated period had prevented me from completing it for the last 18 months but it’s finally done. The request was initially to make a cherrywood shape but in the colors of the Belgian flag. The original colors being too raw in my opinion, we agreed on more sober tones and the end result is ultimately very appreciated. The briar has a nice flamed grain and despite a natural defect in the wood, visible in the photos, the beneficiary preferred to keep it smooth and considers this ‘defect’ as an additional charm: the mole on a beautiful face. The shank extension is acrylic and the stem is cut from a German grade cumberland bar. The flock is in teflon and the rod drilled at 4.2mm. The bit of the mouthpiece (cut concave) is well opened in V for an optimal draw. The briar, of Italian origin, has benefited from a year and a half of drying at the supplier and 2 additional years in my reserve.
