François Dal – Handmade 2017 – (on stem) δ |
If there is an emblematic and legendary shape of the Dunhill brand, it is indeed the famous LC. I had to tackle this shape one day which is not easy to achieve. So here is my first attempt with a model that, by its thick walls and its slightly more massive silhouette, is closer to those produced in the 1930s by the London house. Sandblasting highlights craggy and chaotic rings. The stain is a very dark burgundy, close to black and the black ebonite stem comes from a bar of the SEM producer in Germany. The floc is teflon and the shank drilled at 4.2mm. The slot of the mouthpiece (concave) is well open in V for optimal draw. The briar, of corsican origin according to the supplier, has benefited from a year and a half of drying at the supplier and 10 more months in my reserve.
