It gives me great pleasure to show you this flared Dublin shape, with the natural remnant of the bark (the outer crust of the briar bulb) at the outer edge of the rims. Lightly sandblasted (a sign of dense briar), this pretty flower shows off the ring grain that hug its shape. It’s adorned with a burgundy dress, and the horn extension of the shank deliberately contrasts with a bent, limited-edition ‘Rose Antique’ ebonite stem issued from SEM (“Schönberger Ebonite Manufaktur GmbH”), a leading producer of top-quality ebonite. I think the name of this ebonite color is a perfect match for this model. All in all, this flower stands out for its lightness, the choice of colors and a slender silhouette that I just love. The flock is made of Teflon (a nylon that perfectly handles temperature variations) and the shank is drilled to 4.2mm. The slot of the mouthpiece (concave-cut) is open in a V-shape for optimum draw. The briar, of Italian origin, has benefited from a year and a half of drying at the supplier’s and a further eight years in my storeroom.
