François Dal – Handmade 2017 – (on stem) δ |
What really pleases me in this craft is when a shape imposes itself on you instinctively, in an unpremeditated way. It was the case with a large plateau that left me undecided at the start. Suddenly, the image springs, the line is drawn and the few deer antlers offered by a friend a week before will be used as inserts. The sanded finish of this ‘Egg’ is beautifully steep and I like the whole. The floc is teflon and the shank drilled at 4.2mm. The slot of the mouthpiece (carved concave) is well open in V for optimal draw. The briar, of Tuscan origin, benefited from a year and a half of drying at the supplier and an additional 4 months on my reserve.
