François Dal – Handmade 2017 – (on stem) δ |
The smoker who wants to combine the lightness of a short pipe and the comfort of the Calabash effect may be interested in this short model of Reverse Calabash here in ‘Black Lunar’ finish (this is my handmade rustication with this particular glossy black coal appearance). The stem is of course made by hand from a large rod of ebonite and is adorned with a cumberland blue Prussian washer to give a little contrast. The large shank accommodates an oval cooling chamber with internal dimensions of 25mm in length by 16mm in diameter, allowing the smoke to cool before accessing the stem. The slot of the mouthpiece (concave) is well open in V for optimal draw. The briar, of Tuscan origin, benefited from one year and half of drying at the supplier and six additional months on my reserve.
