François Dal – ADLP Handmade 2018

Here is another entirely handmade pipe, made to order for some members of the group ‘Autour de la Pipe’. It is an oscillating shape between the ‘Egg’ and the ‘Brandy’, semi-curved and Danish-inspired. The present model reveals pretty flames on the flanks and its birdseyes under the base of the stummel, the finish is slightly stained with a ‘honey’ color and polished. The end of the shank is adorned with a double washer of cumberland and boxwood and the stem is made of German ebonite.  The floc is teflon and the shank drilled at 4.2mm. The slot of the mouthpiece (concave cut) is open in V for optimal draw. The specificity of the order was to be able to make these models in a briar as old as possible, which I could respect because I still have some plateaux acquired at the pipemaker David Enrique, who had himself chosen at Marco Biagini, and David was able to estimate their age at 25 years minimum.
