The ‘virgin’ or natural finish is not seen commonly because the briar may show no natural defect, no fault or sandpit. This model is a Liverpool shape with long and thin shank, almost pencil. It shows a ring grain sandblast, not deep as briar appeared to be very dense and resistant to sandblasting. The shank is reinforced by a sterling silver ring and finishes with a handcut ebonite stem, ponceau colored. The result is pleasing to the eye, with classical and very elegant shape. The flock is teflon and the shank drilled at 4.2mm. The slot of the mouthpiece is well open in V for an optimal draw. The briar, of Tuscan origin, benefited at least from a year and a half of drying and 18 more months in my own reserve.
