François Dal – Handmade 2017 – (on stem) δ |
As a result of an order, this Reverse Calabash was nicknamed ‘Jumbo’ by my children for its elephantine sizes. Sandblasting revealed a noticeable ring grain. The stem is cut in whistle, it is entirely made by hand from a piece of horn. The shank is voluntarily disproportionate to accommodate a chamber of 23mm in length by 19mm in diameter, allowing the smoke to cool before accessing the stem. The concave slot of the mouthpiece is well open for optimum draw but kept voluntarily thick due to the tender character of horn. Briar, of Corsican origin, benefited from two years of drying at the supplier.
