It is a real pleasure for me to bring you this large bent Dublin. The 22.4mm by 52.4mm chamber and its imposing dimensions put it squarely in the Group 6. The sandblasted finish does not go unnoticed, with beautiful ring grain and rims where you can still see some of the scorch. The stain colour is more of a sober burgundy with darker areas than the photos suggest: it is not ruby red. The end of the shank is reinforced by a silver ring and the choice of material for the stem was a very classic cumberland, cut from a cumberland bar from the renowned German company “New York Hamburger Gummi-Waaren”, which has been active since 1871 in the production of very high quality ebonite. This stem has been deliberately cut into an ogive shape to continue the bulging effect initiated by the shank. The flock is made of Teflon and the shank is drilled at 4.2mm. The slot of the mouthpiece (concave cut) is well opened in V for an optimal draw. The briar, of Italian origin, has benefited from one year of drying at the supplier’s and four more years in my store.
