François Dal – Handmade 2022 – (on stem) δ |

I am pleased to propose you this new Penelope model, a very light Dublin shape (18 grams) fitted with a long and fine cumberland stem. The shape is inspired by the asbestos Dublin pipes that Georges Brassens liked to smoke, these black pipes with an olive ring and a very thin ‘army’ pipe. As a tribute to the poet, I have reappropriated this shape by making it considerably lighter. The surface sandblasting reveals nice rings on one side and the burgundy stain matches perfectly with the colour of the long stem in German quality red-black Cumberland. The flock is made of Teflon and the shank is drilled at 4.2mm. The button is well opened in a V shape for an optimal draw. The briar, of Sardinian origin, has benefited from one year of drying at the supplier and four more years in my storeroom.
