François Dal – Handmade 2022 – (on stem) δ |

I am pleased to propose you this new Penelope model, a very light Dublin shape (18 grams) fitted with a long and fine cumberland stem. The shape is inspired by the asbestos Dublin pipes that Georges Brassens liked to smoke, these black pipes with an olive ring and a very thin ‘army’ stem. As a tribute to the poet, I have reappropriated this shape by making it considerably lighter. The sandblasting on the surface reveals some rings and this spider web pattern. The chocolate stain, lightened, allows to raise these flames. The shank continues with a long stem in red-black German cumberland. The flock is made of Teflon and the stem is drilled to 4.2mm. The button is wide open in a V-shape for optimal draw. The briar, of Sardinian origin, has benefited from one year of drying at the supplier and four more years in my storeroom.
