| François Dal – Handmade 2020 – (on stem) δ | |
Here is a project started with a comrade who came to the workshop and left hanging for far too long. Here it is now complete: it is therefore a general Lumberman shape (oval shank with saddle stem) but whose ovoid head is more readily classified in the ‘Egg’ form. The shape is pleasing to the eye, with a more marked overhang on the posterior face of the head, a rounded shape which makes all its charm. The wood is not outdone with relatively tight flames and crossed by a malicious gale. The color contrast is also very present. The stem is finished with a bocote extension (precious wood from Central America, in gold and dark brown tones) and a colored ebonite stem ‘Tan’ color. The whole presents a harmony of tones. The floc is teflon and the rod drilled to 4.2mm. The slot of the stem (concave cut) is open in V for optimal draw. This Italian briar benefited from one and a half years of drying from the supplier and another two years in my reserve.
