François Dal – Handmade 2018 – (on stem) δ |
It is a real pleasure when briar spreads its charms and offers you a structure like this long Canadian! A pleasure during its realization but also a pleasure for the eyes once completed. The concentric rings, spaced and deep, form the hypnotic frame of this pipe with generous chamber (2.16 by 5.2cm!), and the stain swinging between the black and the very dark garnet marries perfectly with the cumberland stem. We do not count the hours of work required for this type of sanding but the result is worthwhile, even if I lack objectivity. 😉 The flock is teflon and the shank drilled at 4.2mm. The slot of the mouthpiece is well open in V for an optimal draw. The briar, of Italian origin, benefited at least from a year and a half of drying (I guess much more) and 1 more year and a half in my own reserve.
