François Dal – Handmade 2018 – (on stem) δ |
What a pleasure to work a briar with such a grain! So this is a Rhodesian shape with Dublinish appearance, and a very nice straight grain; the very thin shank is reinforced by a sterling silver ring and terminated by a purple cumberland stem, reminiscent of the stain on the chamber’s rims. What to add except that I find it very attractive but I’m not very objective; o). The flock is made of teflon and the shank drilled at 4.2mm. The concave slot of the mouthpiece is well open in V for an optimal draw. The briar, from Italian origin, has benefited from 3 years of drying at the supplier and in my drying room.
